IZMIR - The commander of space shuttle Discovery Steven Lindsey paid a courtesy call to the Yzmir Mayor Aziz Kocaoglu.
Saying that he was glad to visit Izmir, Lindsey indicated that they took a Turkish flag with them during the space trip and that the flag circled the globe 202 times.
At the end of the visit Lindsey presented a photograph of the space shuttle team with a Turkish flag in hand to the Mayor, as a gift.
The space shuttle Discovery was launched to space on July 4th, 2006 and returned to earth on July 17th.
