MERSIN - Akdeniz Nail Co., a factory based in Turkish Mediterranean city of Mersin, has succeeded in controlling 95 percent of markets in Israel and Ireland, said company sources on Thursday.
'Akdeniz' also controls 50 percent of the nail market in Portugal.
The company's General Manager Serhat Servet Dovenci told AA that they began operations in 1994 when the factory's ownership changed hands due to poor business under the former owners. The factory operates on an area of 10,000 square meters.
According to Dovenci, Akdeniz Nail Co. exports nails to the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Britain, France, Latvia, Poland, United States, Canada and Egypt.
"In 2005, our total exports were 4.4 million USD. We expect our exports in 2006 to reach 6 million USD," said Dovenci.
"The only competition we face comes from China. Yet if Turkish authorities provide us with more incentives, we can deal with fierce competition from China," added Dovenci.
