ANKARA - A two-story tunnel will be constructed under the Bosphorus (Istanbul) to ease traffic. Each storey will have two lanes, said sources on Thursday.
Turkish Minister of Transportation Binali Yildirim stressed that the tunnel won't replace a planned third bridge. "The tunnel will not be an alternative to a new bridge. Istanbul needs a new bridge along with a two- story tunnel," noted Yildirim.
According to Yildirim, the toll for using the tunnel will be 2.5 USD per vehicle.
