GAZIANTEP - Turkish police confiscated 26.5 kilograms of heroin in southeastern city of Gaziantep, police chief Ali Yilmaz announced today.
Acting on a tip-off that heroin smuggled from Iran would be sent to Syria via Gaziantep, police searched a car and found the heroin, Yilmaz told reporters.
He said that four Turks and one Syrian national were detained in the operation, adding that efforts are under way to arrest two more people in connection with the heroin haul.
On the other hand, 32 kilograms of hashish were seized in Saman village of southeastern city of Malatya, and two people were arrested in the operation.
