IZMIR - World's biggest floating bookshop ''MV Doulos'' ship anchored in Alsancak Port of Aegean Izmir province on Friday.
Paul Beck, an official of the ship from Relations with Media Unit, stated that the ship provided facilities to booklovers to buy book with affordable prices.
Beck said MV Doulos was constructed in 1914, and that it was bought by GBA in 1977, an aid organization acting in Germany.
Beck said the floating bookshop visited 94 countries in 26 years, stressing that 350 volunteers from 43 countries worked in the floating bookshop. He said there were more than 500,000 books in the ship.
Beck said the ship aimed at supporting education in the world through culture sharing programs, stressing that they would stay in Izmir till November 23, 2003.
Beck said this was their second visit to Turkey.
