LEFKOSA - Cyprus Turk Foundations Administration decided to put into practice an action plan which was prepared aiming to make Maras region that was closed to settlement since 1974 to be beneficial for country economy.
At the first stage of the action plan, an announcement will be made to those who occupied lands in Maras region belonging to Foundations starting as of 1974. Compensation rights of the Foundations, investments of occupiers, and relations of owner of goods and tenants would be open to mutual discussion.
On the second step, within a master plan, which will be prepared according to the results that would be obtained at the first stage, local and international entrepreneurs will be called to make investment in closed Maras region with a tender.
Foundations Administration, which stressed that whole of closed Maras belonged to themselves, stated that this was formed by 3,121 title deed registrations given by Abdullah Pasa, Lala Mustafa Pasa, and Bilal Aga Foundations as well as British colony administration title deed department.
Cyprus Turk Foundations Administration said Maras was the richest settlement unit of the island with 10,000 touristic bed capacity, hundreds of work places, houses, administrative and cultural buildings, stressing that 100-year old compensation right of the Foundations Administration reached 74 billion U.S. dollars with current values.
The Master Plan targets to create 20,000 bed capacity and employment facilities for 5,000 people.
Cyprus Turk Foundations Administration made a statement and said that a significant part of the Guzelyurt region, which often was brought onto agenda during talks on Cyprus that they might be given to Greek Cypriots, belonged to the Foundation.
