ROME - "Italian government is resolved to fully support Turkey's EU accession process," Italian Deputy PM and FM Massimo D'Alema said on Tuesday.
After a meeting in Italian Foreign Ministry HQ in Rome today, D'Alema noted that he was sure that Turkey's accession would provide significant advantages for the union.
Stating that EU countries should encourage Turkey to keep fulfilling reforms, D'Alema noted that start of negotiation talks with Turkish government was a very positive step.
Noting that there were still problems regarding Cyprus issue, D'Alema underlined, "we should work to find a reasonable way out to that matter."
"Turkey always appreciated Italy's support," Turkish Ambassador to Italy Ugur Ziyal noted on the other hand.
