ADANA - "Election of the president by people is the solution to controversies," said Erkan Mumcu, leader of the opposition Motherland Party (ANAVATAN).
Responding to journalists' questions in a TV program in Adana last night, Mumcu said that presidential election is the deep motive under controversies regarding fundamentalism and secularism.
Noting that there is no need to behave stubbornly towards the nation, Mumcu said, "there is need for a president, parliament speaker, prime minister and chief of general staff who speak, agree and reach a common national policy compromise together," said Mumcu.
