BURSA - Sale of black figs, considered the figs of the highest quality in the world, rose by nearly 250 percent on the weekly basis as a result of effective promotion carried out by the Alara Agricultural Products Corp.
In an interview with the A.A, Alara Agricultural Products Corp. Director-General Kerim Taner said on Monday, "we aim at increasing our exports of black figs up to 7 million USD by the end of 2006. Germany and France are the biggest markets for us. We also export black figs to Britain, Switzerland, the Netherland, Austria, Belgium and Scandinavian countries."
"Black figs of the northwestern Turkish city of Bursa are considered the figs of the highest quality in the world. We aim at introducing this fruit into world markets by launching effective promotions," he added.
