ANKARA - Turkish Board of Statistics (TUIK) announced that Turkey's industrial output rose by 4.8 percent in August 2006 when compared to the same month of the previous year.
In August of 2005, industrial production had grown 6.8 percent.
According to TUIK's Monthly Industrial Production Index for August 2006, production in mining sector grew 6.6 percent while manufacturing industry rose by 4 percent and electricity, gas and water industry's growth was 9.8 percent.
In August 2005, there was a 3.6 percent increase in mining industry output and a 11.1 percent growth in electricity, gas and water industry while manufacturing industry had grown 6.4 percent.
Moreover, industrial production rate grew 9.5 percent in July last year.
