ANKARA - The Foreign Ministry demanded on Tuesday that more effective security measures should be taken in and around Turkish representations in the Netherlands and assailants of the molotov cocktail attack on Turkish Embassy in the Hague should be captured.
A statement of the Ministry said that officials had launched high-level initiatives in Ankara and the Hague.
The statement recalled that relevant arrangements of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the international law obliged the host countries to absolutely and unilaterally ensure security of diplomatic representatives in their country.
The Ministry asked the Netherlands to take more effective security measures in foreign representations.
The statement said that Turkey had many times asked Dutch authorities as well as authorities of many other countries to take necessary measures to ensure security of Turkish representations taking into consideration that foreign representations could be a target of terrorist activities in recent days.
The statement added that Turkey had notified to the concerned authorities that it reserved the right to compensate the damage in the chancellery building of the Turkish Embassy in the Hague.
An explosion occurred at the Turkish Embassy in the Hague on Tuesday as a molotov cocktail was hurled on the building. The explosion caused financial damage in the building whereas nobody died or was wounded in the attack.
