Exports Reached 4.9 Billion U.S. Dollars In October

ANKARA - Foreign Trade Undersecretary Tuncer Kayalar said on Sunday that exports reached 4 billion 955 million U.S. dollars in October of 2003.
Releasing a statement, Kayalar said that exports from Turkey increased up to 39 billion U.S. dollars in the January-October period of the year.
''According to the Exporters' Association, our exports increased 35.7 percent to 4 billion 955 million U.S. dollars reaching the highest level in the history of the Republic. In the January-October period of 2003, exports rose 33.3 percent to 39 billion U.S. dollars compared to figures of the same period last year,'' he said.
Kayalar noted, ''industrial products account for 84 percent of total exports from Turkey. Exports of industrial products in the January-October period of 2003 increased 31.2 percent to 32 billion U.S. dollars. Exports of ready-made clothing increased by 26.8 percent, exports of automobiles rose by 59 percent, exports of electricity-electronics climbed by 23 percent, exports of machinery increased by 43 percent, and exports of textiles rose by 22 percent.''
