Kidnappers Of Turkish Engineer Give A Period Of Two Days

ANKARA - Those who kidnapped Hasan Onal, a Turkish engineer working on a U.S.-funded road project in Afghanistan, gave a period of two days for release of their six imprisoned friends in exchange for him.
Diplomatic sources told A.A correspondent on Saturday that kidnappers of Onal wanted release of their six imprisoned friends and gave a period of two days.
The Turkish Embassy in Kabul has been holding perpetual contacts with the U.S. forces in the region. The Turkish Embassy has also launched initiatives in neighboring Pakistan.
Onal is believed to have been taken to the border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan in which Taliban has still been powerful.
Onal and his Afghan driver were abducted at gunpoint on Thursday while travelling in the Shah Joy district of Zabul province on the main highway linking the capital Kabul with the southern province of Kandahar.
The driver was released on Friday and given a letter to the authorities threatening to kill Onal unless their six friends were released.
