Komotini - Maroneia Metropolitan Attends Republic Day Celebrations Of Turkey

ANKARA - Komotini-Maroneia Metropolitan Damaskinos for the first time attended the reception hosted in Komotini on the 80th anniversary of Turkish Republic.
Diplomatic sources said on Friday that besides many guests, Metropolitan Damaskinos attended the reception hosted on October 29 by Turkey's Consul General Huseyin Avni Botsali and it was the first time that he participated in such a reception.
The sources noted that Damaskinos chatted with Komotini's elected mufti Ibrahim Serif and members of Western Thrace Turkish minority and visited the exhibition titled ''Turkish-Greek Friendship in old photographs on the 80th anniversary.''
Damaskinos signed the 80th Anniversary of Turkish Republic Special Book.
