WASHINGTON - The United States has "no confirmation" of a possible second North Korean nuclear test amid conflicting reports from Asia, the White House said late Tuesday.
"We have no confirmation," said Frederick Jones, spokesman for the White House's National Security Council.
Japanese public broadcaster NHK said officials in that country had detected a tremor which could be a second test, following the first one conducted by Pyongyang on Monday.
But South Korea's presidential office denied the Japanese reports.
"You have two conflicting reports from the same region," said Jones.
"This is all coming out of nowhere," he said.
