ANKARA - Turkey repaid a total of 1 billion 300.11 million U.S. dollars in external debt between October 1 and 28, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the Treasury repaid 797.90 million U.S. dollars; the Central Bank repaid 42.03 million U.S. dollars, and the administrations with general and consolidated budget paid the remaining 19.26 million U.S. dollars.
Turkey has repaid 12 billion 611.01 million U.S. dollars in external debt since the beginning of the year.
Turkey repaid 847.51 million U.S. dollars in external debt in January, 1 billion 948.87 million U.S. dollars in February, 1 billion 57.93 million U.S. dollars in March, 915.06 million U.S. dollars in April, 1 billion 133.96 million U.S. dollars in May, 1 billion 936.25 million U.S. dollars in June, 1 billion 851.89 million U.S. dollars in July and 907.35 million U.S. dollars in August and 712.08 million dollars in September.
The total external debt repayments in 2002 had been 17 billion 365.18 million U.S. dollars.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE RESERVES DECREASE BY USD 1.3 BILLION
Foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank decreased by 1 billion 317 million U.S. dollars between October 17-24, 2003.
According to the Central Bank's weekly bulletin, the Central Bank's foreign exchange reserves which were 34 billion 426 million U.S. dollars on October 17, decreased to 33 billion 109 million U.S. dollars on October 24.
Total foreign exchange reserves of banks and private finance organizations increased 109 million U.S. dollars from 10 billion 993 million U.S. dollars to 11 billion 102 million U.S. dollars between October 3-10.
The international reserves of Turkey comprising gold reserves and foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank, commercial banks and private finance organizations increased 602 million U.S. dollars from 46 billion 424 million U.S. dollars to 47 billion 56 million U.S. dollars between October 3-10.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS DECREASE TO USD 67.2 BILLION
Total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks decreased 749 million U.S. dollars to 67 billion 24 million U.S. dollars between October 10-17, 2003.
According to Central Bank's provisional statistics, total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks was 67 billion 773 million U.S. dollars on October 10.
Foreign exchange deposits decreased 503 million U.S. dollars to 50 billion 899 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Total internal foreign exchange deposits decreased 477 million U.S. dollars to 48 billion 534 million U.S. dollars while external foreign exchange deposits decreased 26 million U.S. dollars to 2 billion 365 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Meanwhile, total foreign exchange deposits at the interbank market decreased 133 million U.S. dollars to 657 million U.S. dollars.
Foreign exchange deposits with letter of credit and super foreign exchange accounts increased 246 million U.S. dollar to 16 billion 371 million U.S. dollars between October 17-24, 2003.
BANKS' CREDIT VOLUME INCREASES BY 901.9 TRILLION TURKISH LIRAS
Banks' credit volume increased 901.9 trillion Turkish liras (TL) to 51 quadrillion 332.7 trillion TL between October 10-17, 2003.
The total credit volume at banks was 50 quadrillion 430.7 trillion TL on October 10.
The credits given to financial sector were composed of 853.7 trillion TL of loans given by deposit banks, and 1 quadrillion 757.7 trillion TL of loans given by development and investment banks.
The credits given to non-financial sector were composed of 167.7 trillion TL of loans given by Central Bank, 44 quadrillion 64.9 trillion TL of loans given by deposit banks, and 4 quadrillion 488.6 trillion TL of loans given by development and investment banks.
SECURITIES ACCOUNT AT BANKS INCREASES BY 1.3 QUADRILLION TL
The securities account at banks increased 1 quadrillion 366.7 trillion Turkish Liras (TL) to 47 quadrillion 197.9 trillion TL on October 17, 2003.
The total securities account at banks was 45 quadrillion 831.2 trillion TL on October 10.
The Central Bank data show that there were a total of 46 quadrillion 270.8 trillion TL of securities including 26 quadrillion 609.9 trillion TL of securities and 19 quadrillion 660.9 trillion TL of securities over foreign currency in the deposit banks portfolio.
The securities over TL at deposit banks are composed of 3 quadrillion 714.1 trillion TL in treasury bonds, 22 quadrillion 418.2 trillion TL in state debenture bonds and 453.3 trillion TL in stocks.
A total of 919.7 trillion TL of foreign currency securities at these banks are abroad while there is a total of 18 quadrillion 598.3 trillion TL of state debenture bonds among the domestic securities.
The total securities account at the development and investment banks was 923.4 trillion TL.
TOTAL DEPOSITS AT BANKS INCREASE TO 141.3 QUADRILLION TL
Total deposits at banks increased 1 quadrillion 728.6 trillion Turkish liras (TL) to 141 quadrillion 364.2 trillion TL as of October 17, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the total deposits were 139 quadrillion 635.6 trillion TL on October 10.
Excluding inter-bank deposits, the total deposits, which were 136 quadrillion 891.1 trillion TL on October 10, increased 2 quadrillion 36 trillion TL to 138 quadrillion 927.1 trillion TL on October 17.
The total foreign exchange deposits under total deposits at banks increased 960.5 trillion TL from 66 quadrillion 78.5 trillion TL on October 10 to 67 quadrillion 39 trillion liras on October 17.
The total TL deposits increased 1 quadrillion 75.5 trillion TL to 71 quadrillion 888.1 trillion TL on October 17. The total TL deposits were 70 quadrillion 812.5 trillion on October 10.
The total TL deposits were composed of 39 quadrillion 657.7 trillion TL deposits at public banks, 31 quadrillion 478.4 trillion TL of deposits at private deposit banks and 509.7 trillion TL of deposits at foreign banks.
REPO TRANSACTIONS BETWEEN BANKS AND THEIR CUSTOMERS INCREASE
Repo transactions between banks and their customers increased by 357.1 trillion Turkish liras (TL) between October 17-24, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the repo transactions, which were 2 quadrillion 846 trillion TL on October 17, increased to 3 quadrillion 203.1 trillion TL on October 24.
Repo transactions among the financial organizations increased 522.7 trillion TL to 7 quadrillion 895.2 trillion TL on October 24. The total repo transactions amount was 7 quadrillion 372.6 trillion TL on October 17.
The reverse repo transactions among the financial organizations, which were 7 quadrillion 369.8 trillion TL on October 17, increased 491.8 trillion liras to 7 quadrillion 861.7 trillion TL on October 24.
