ANTALYA - "Both parties (Turkey & the EU) have some concerns over Turkey`s integration to Europe. However, the only thing that will provide stability to us in the future is Turkey`s EU integration," said Environment & Nuclear Safety Minister Sigmar Gabriel of Germany today.
Taking the floor in a conference on sustainable development and climate protection in Antalya, Gabriel indicated that they want to cooperate with Turkey in environment, and leave a better world to next generations.
Gabriel stated that Germany is producing 19 percent of the environmental technologies used in the world, and is creating jobs for 1.5 million people in recycling projects.
Turkey should take more advantage of solar energy, he added.
On the other hand, Turkish Environment & Forestry Minister Osman Pepe said that Turkey has 35 million tons of garbage per year, and 20-25 percent of it can be recycled.
Pepe added that Turkey can provide an annual economic income of 500 million up to 1 billion USD if it does so.
