NEW YORK - State Minister Ali Babacan for Economy said on Wednesday that Turkey attributed importance to fight against corruption and poverty.
Babacan, who is currently in New York, the United States, to attend the United Nations General Assembly meeting on ''High-Level Dialogue on Financing for Development'', informed participants of the meeting on Turkey's economic reforms.
Highlighting importance of fight against corruption and poverty for Turkey, Babacan drew attention of participants to the reforms in the sectors of public banking, tax and private retirement.
Stressing that foreign assistance to the developing countries should be increased in line with the decisions, which were taken unanimously during the meetings in Mexico, Babacan noted that foreign assistance system should be arranged in accordance with the decisions taken at the millennium summit of the United Nations.
Expressing Turkey's satisfaction with the development assistance of the European Union (EU), Babacan underlined importance of increasing coordination among countries providing assistance and countries taking foreign assistance.
