ANKARA - The 80th anniversary of Turkish Republic is being celebrated throughout Turkey, foreign representations of Turkey and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Wednesday.
The first ceremony took place in Anitkabir, the Mausoleum of Ataturk, the Founder of Turkish Republic.
Senior officials headed by President Ahmet Necdet Sezer laid a wreath on Ataturk's Mausoleum and observed a minute of silence.
Sezer wrote in Anitkabir Special Book, ''our nation has taken oath to strengthen the secular and democratic Republic, which is our biggest inheritance, by new works and protect it till eternity.''
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Constitutional Court Chairman Mustafa Bumin, Chief of General Staff Hilmi Ozkok, State Ministers and Deputy Prime Ministers Mehmet Ali Sahin and Abdullatif Sener, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, other members of the Council of Ministers, Acting Parliament Speakers Yilmaz Ates, Nevzat Pakdil and Sadik Yakut, chairmen of supreme judicial organs, commanders of forces, Republican People's Party (CHP) group deputy chairman Haluk Koc, CHP Secretary General Onder Sav, Ankara Governor Yahya Gur and Ankara Mayor Melih Gokcek attended the ceremony.
REPUBLIC DAY BEING CELEBRATED IN FOREIGN REPRESENTATIONS OF TURKEY
TASHKENT/BISHKEK/ASHKHABAD - The 80th anniversary of Turkish Republic is being celebrated in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan on Wednesday.
The ceremony in Uzbek capital Tashkent started as National Anthem was sung and a minute of silence was observed at the Dedeman Hotel.
Turkey's Ambassador to Uzbekistan Resit Uman, Acting Education Counselor Muslum Demir, members of the embassy, and Turkish businessmen and citizens living in Uzbekistan attended the ceremony.
In the meantime, a ceremony was held in Kyrgyz capital Bishkek to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Republic.
Turkey's Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Muzaffer Erkotem laid a wreath to Statue of Ataturk, a minute of silence was observed and National Anthem was sung.
Later, panel discussions were held, concerts were given and folkloric dances were performed in Kyrgyz-Turkish International Manas University.
Eroktem will host a reception on the 80th anniversary of the Republic this evening.
Republican Day was also celebrated in Turkmenistan. Turkey's Ambassador to Turkmenistan Mehmet Bahattin Gursoz attended the ceremony held in National Education Ministry's Ashkabat Turkish Elementary School.
