BERLIN - "Turkey is against every type of terrorism," said Turkish Justice Minister Cemil Cicek.
Taking the floor at a meeting on "Turkey`s Accession Process to Europe and Turkish-German Relations" hosted by the Turkish Industrialists` and Businessmen`s Association (TUSIAD) in Berlin, Cicek indicated that Turkey is an overwhelmingly Muslim country but at the same time it has adopted EU values.
Therefore, Turkey has to join the EU, he stated. "We don`t want any privileges (regarding our EU membership). We want to be subject to the criteria which also apply to other member states. But sometimes, some preconditions, outside the (union) criteria are put forward us," he added.
Cicek will return to Turkey tomorrow.
