ANKARA - Turkish Parliamentary Human Rights Watch Commission Chairman Mehmet Elkatmis met Chairman of the German-Turkish Parliamentary Friendship Group Co-Chairman Thomas Kossendey and his delegation in the parliament in Ankara on Thursday.
Kossendey stated they wanted to learn what Turkey did in the area of human rights and in regard to the ninth reform package, noting that they would exchange views on several issues with Turkish parliamentarians.
Elkatmis said that Turkey had been fulfilling its duties on its way toward EU membership.
"Some circles claim that there is no freedom of expression in Turkey. There are some shortcomings regarding this matter, but we are exerting great efforts to eliminate them," Elkatmis indicated.
