A four-month documentary filmmaking workshop has opened in Diyarbakır, enrolling 21 women from a range of backgrounds, including teachers, students, and homemakers. The program is hosted at the Diyarbakır Art Center and organized by the Diyarbakır Filmmor Women's Association.

Coordinator Melek Özmen noted that women remain largely absent from film production in Türkiye, estimating that only about five percent contribute actively to the field.

The workshop expands on a program that the association had run in Istanbul for three years, following direct requests from women in Diyarbakır. Participants will receive comprehensive instruction covering all aspects of documentary production. Films completed during the course are expected to be entered in international competitions.
