-SCIENTISTS FROM ALL AROUND WORLD TO TAKE PART IN MAGAZINE

KONYA - "In May 2007, we will start publishing International Mevlana Studies periodical," Selcuk University's Center for Mevlana Studies in Konya Director Associate Professor Nuri Simsekler said on Wednesday.
Important researches about Mevlana will take place in the periodical, he noted.
"The periodical will be published in every 6 months. Scientists from all around the world will take part in the periodical as well as the Turkish scientists," he indicated.
"This will be the first periodical having the name 'Mevlana'. Any serious research in a university in the world about Mevlana will be published in the periodical," Simsekler said.
Associate Prof. Simsekler remarked that the periodical will be published both in Turkish and in English, "the magazine will be sent to universities in various countries and important libraries. The periodical will start to be published in 2007, which was announced as "International Rumi Year" by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Simsekler said Mevlana Studies Center will also organize an international symposium entitled "Traces of Mevlana in the World" in December 2007.
Jalal ud-din Rumi, known as Mevlana, devoted himself to the pursuit of Sufi mysticism, in which he was justly regarded as the supreme master. He was the spiritual founder of the Mevlevi order of whirling dervishes.
His most important work, composed during the last ten years of his life, is the Mathnawi-i Manawi. This comprises about thirty thousand couplets in six books, a vast compendium of Sufi lore and doctrine, interspersed with fables and anecdotes. It is especially remarkable for its insight into the laws of physics and psychology.
