BURSA - Turkish automotive exports rose by 16.6 percent and reached 10.6 billion USD between January-September of 2006 which was nearly the same amount of total exports in 2004, Uludag Exporters` Union (UIB) told the A.A on Tuesday.
Turkey had earned 10.7 billion USD in its automotive exports in 2004.
Automotive sector`s export figure in January-September period in 2005 was 9.09 billion USD.
Automotive exports rose by 18 percent in September and reached 1.2 billion USD, while the export figures dropped 9 percent in January, and increased 1.6 percent in February, 6 percent in March, 7 percent in April, 21 percent in May, 42 percent in June, 22 percent in July and 44 percent in August in 2006.
Turkey exported cars to 13 free zones as well as 165 countries and autonomous regions in the first 9 months of 2006. Italy was ranked the first among countries Turkey exported its products, while Germany, France, Britain and Spain followed it.
