WASHINGTON D.C. - White House spokesman Tony Snow said U.S. President George Bush and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan "talked about the fact that it appears that some of the PKK offices are going to be getting shut down within Iraq."
When a journalist asked whether Turkey`s launching an operation against Iraq was discussed, Snow said, "they did have an extensive conversation, but they did not talk specifically about what you mentioned."
Asked if Bush-Erdogan meeting would accelerate Turkey`s membership process to the EU, Snow said, "I don`t know. That is a matter, as you know, for the European Union. Turkey works with European officials for about the membership. The United States is going to support them."
