WHERE IS EUROPEANISM?
A young person in Greece is not allowed to carry Greek flag just because he was Albanian. Shariah is implemented for 100 thousand Western Thracian Turks. And, France censures visits to prisons. A rebellion occurred in Greece just because an Albanian student who was the best student in a school in a Greek village would carry Greek flag. The Albanian youngster gave up his right in order to protest racism. A Greek girl who was the second best student of that school condemned racism and refused to carry the flag. Greece appoints muftis for Western Thracian Turks defined as ''Muslim minority'' under the Lausanne Treaty and asks the muftis to implement Shariah rules. Husbands can divorce their wives saying only ''I am divorcing you'' for three times and the husbands are granted the guardianship of children. France did not allow members of Parliamentary Human Rights Commission to visit Turks in a prison in Strasbourg. French officials claimed that ''Turkish officials should have got permission from French authorities 15 days before for that visit.'' Torun, a member of the Commission, said, ''in Turkey, we give such permission in 15 hours.''

FOLLOWING OUR SOLDIERS, THEY DON'T WANT OUR HOSPITAL EITHER
Iraqi Interim Governing Council rejected to initiative of Turkey to establish a hospital in Baghdad. The initiative has been delayed.

10 BILLION TL TO IMARBANK VICTIMS
Treasury and IMF rejected the amount which the government wanted to pay to the victims of Imarbank, which was transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund. The payment is expected to be either 7.5 or 10 billion Turkish liras. The government had earlier promised to give 15 billion Turkish liras.

GUL DOES NOT ATTEND EU MEETING
While one week is left for the publication of the EU Commission's Progress Report on Turkey, Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul decided not to attend the intergovernmental conference in Belgium. There were some rumors saying that there was a crisis in the relations with the EU, and it was also claimed that Gul could not get an appointment from EU Commissioner for enlargement Guenter Verheugen. However, a Foreign Ministry official said that Foreign Minister Gul was very tired because of his intense contacts abroad and he would attend the conference meeting next week.

''LOAN TAKEN WITHOUT ANY NEED HAS A COST''
Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister Abdullatif Sener clarified the discussions on 8.5 billion U.S. dollars of loan granted by the United States to Turkey. Sener said that preparations for the loan had almost been completed and said, ''we have earlier said that we will use this loan in line with our needs. This loan doesn't have any place in our program. We have determined our finance balances without this loan. This loan will relieve us and relieve our debt balance. But, using this loan without any need has a cost. It has an interest. We should take this into account. There are not any other problems. There are not any problems stemming from the conditions of the loan. There are not any problems stemming from those who will give the loan. We are not using the loan at the moment due to our finance balance, since we don't need it and due to some other factors.''

10 THOUSAND U.S. DOLLAR LIMITATION TO BORDER TRADE WITH IRAQ LIFTED
Ten thousand U.S. dollars of limitation of cash money from Iraq to Turkey has been lifted, Etsun company Deputy Director General Umit Sonmez Inanc, who gave information about the developments, said that people with whom they were trading in Iraq said that the limitation was lifted and everything was normalized. State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said that they had received information that the limitation had been ended and underlined that the decision to limit flow of cash money from Iraq by 10 thousand U.S. dollars was in fact wrong.

TURKEY WALKS FOR REPUBLIC
Following the public rally of rectors and thousands of citizens in Ankara last Saturday, people in western Izmir province came together yesterday for the 80th Year Republic March. Those who took part in the rally shouted slogans saying ''Turkey is secular and it will remain secular.'' The rally lasted for two hours in Izmir. The aim of people in Izmir was to claim ownership on the republic's revolutions.

COUNTDOWN FOR FAST TRIP
The Council of Ministers approved the Spanish credit of 437 million Euros provided from various international finance institutions for rehabilitation of Ankara-Istanbul existing railway. The construction of the first stage between Ankara and Eskisehir is expected to start this month. When the project finishes, the railway trip between Ankara and Istanbul will decrease to 3 hours and 10 minutes.

NEW LIFE STARTS IN TURKEY
The individual retirement system will start today. Within ten years, totally 4 million persons are expected to be members of the system which will improve prosperity of people by giving them the second retirement chance. According to the system everybody who are at the age of 18 or older can join. Those who pay premium to the system for at least 10 years and who are at the age of 56 can retire.

PUBLIC REFORM TO BE SUBMITTED TO PARLIAMENT
Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government gave its last form to the bill on Public Administration in line with the rejections of General Staff and President Ahmet Necdet Sezer. After being discussed by the cabinet, it will be transferred to the parliament.

GOOD NEWS FOR RETIRED
Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said that the government would rise pension of the retired more than salaries of civil servants. Unakitan said that the retired had difficulty in making their living and said, ''we will increase pension of the retired more than salaries of civil servants. Our citizens will be positively affected by our new budget.''

WORLD BANK'S WARNING TO ANKARA
According to ''preliminary report on the active labor market strategy'' prepared by World Bank experts in coordination with the Treasury Undersecretariat, productivity and wages are low in Turkey and labor laws are not totally taken into consideration. In accordance with the report, unemployment gradually increases in Turkey and people who are educated and who are expected to be demanded by employers are still unemployed.

EVERYBODY REACTS TO THOSE WHO OPEN BANNER SAYING 'ARMY, TAKE ACTION'
The demonstration of the rectors and students who visited Ataturk's Mausoleum and who later convened at Tandogan square in Ankara last Saturday is still being discussed. Politicians, non-governmental organizations, media and the business world reacted to the banner written 'army, take action' on it. The demonstration was held to protest the bill aiming to limit the powers of the Higher Education Board.

10,000 U.S. DOLLARS LIMIT LIFTED
The limit of 10,000 U.S. Dollars which was earlier brought to Iraq regarding the outflow of foreign exchange from the country has been lifted. State Minister Kursat Tuzmen said he was informed that the limit was lifted and the former system was valid. Noting that the earlier decision was wrong, Tuzmen said that there was no banking system in Iraq to transfer money, so Turkish businessmen brought the money which they earned by selling goods in Iraq with them.
