ISTANBUL - Turkish Airlines (THY) has established a crisis desk after one of its jets got hijacked over Greece this evening.
According to a written press release, a THY Boeing 737-400 jet bound for Istanbul from Tirana changed its course and landed at Italy's Brindisi Airport.
"There are 107 passengers and six crew members in our jet. We have established a crisis desk to monitor the developments. We will continue to inform the media regularly as we receive information from Brindisi," said the THY statement.
Meanwhile, THY Press Officer Ali Genc told the AA that the hijackers are unarmed. "All passengers are in good health," stressed Genc.
The doors of the THY jet are still not open. There is heavy security around the jet in Brindisi.
