The city of Konya will bring five language editions of Jalal ud-din Rumi's celebrated work 'Mesnevi' (Mathnawi-i Manawi) to the 58th International Frankfurt Book Fair, held 4–8 October. Turkish, German, English, Italian, and Persian versions of the text will be on display.
Konya Mayor Tahir Akyurek said the city's primary goal is to raise the work's international profile. Alongside 'Mesnevi,' the delegation will also show promotional books about Konya in Turkish, English, German, and Korean, plus two editions of 'Rumi and Divine Therapy.'
Rumi, widely known in Türkiye as Mevlana, was a towering figure of Sufi mysticism and the spiritual founder of the Mevlevi order, famed for its whirling dervish ritual. The Mathnawi-i Manawi, composed during the final decade of his life, spans roughly 30,000 couplets across six volumes. The work weaves together Sufi teaching, fables, and anecdotes, and is notably recognized for its insights into physics and psychology.
