CANAKKALE - A Cambodian-flagged cargo ship ran aground at the Canakkale Strait today.
According to sources, the cargo ship was carrying kaolin from Ukraine to Canakkale's Kepez port when it ran aground in a shallow area off Kepez Lighthouse.
A tug-boat has been sent to the area after the captain notified authorities about the situation. However, the captain has not asked for help yet, and the crew are trying to get over the situation by themselves.
The ship was 82.50 meters in length and 1,532 gross tons in weight.
