"LOOK AT PAST 20 YEARS TO UNDERSTAND FUNDAMENTALISM"
Speaking at the Turkish parliament on Sunday, President Ahmet Necdet Sezer touched on the threat posed by fundamentalism in Turkey. "Those who do not understand fundamentalism in Turkey should look at the past 20 years. Only then they can understand where the Turkish society has come," said Sezer.
ERDOGAN: "TURKEY CAN EARN MONEY FROM HEALTH TOURISM"
Inaugurating the mobile trucks of the World Eye Hospitals Group before departing for the United States, Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan indicated that "Turkey can earn money from health tourism." Erdogan stressed that if a hospital in Turkey can treat 12,000 foreign patients in a given year, so can other 100 hospitals. "Turkey should make use of health tourism in order to increase its revenue from tourism," added Erdogan.

WARNING AGAINST FUNDAMENTALISM A DAY LATER
Immediately after PM Erdogan said "there is no fundamentalist threat", President Sezer, who made his last address to the parliament, gave harsh messages about this matter. Sezer said, "fundamentalist ground is broadening. Freedom can also be limited for secularism. The army is the insurance of the regime, so it should be above politics."
DE NIRO ATTENDS FAST-BREAKING DINNER
Turkish PM Erdogan participated in a fast-breaking dinner hosted by Ahmet Ertegun, a famous music organizer in the USA and the new owner of Turkish TGRT channel. World-famous actor Robert De Niro was among the guests of the dinner.

TALABANI: PKK IS FINISHED
Iraqi leader Talabani spoke to a Greek newspaper: "It was the PKK which harmed confidence between Turkey and us. But, PKK is finished and it has no future. PKK`s leaving Kandil depends on Turkey. Turkey should issue amnesty for these people to return to their countries."
RECORD RISE IN EXPORTS
Exports were up 10.5 percent in September 2006 when compared with September 2005. Turkey earned 7.7 billion USD from exports in September. One-year exports from Turkey were recorded as 81.5 billion USD.

ERDOGAN TO SEE BUSH WITH ARMENIAN PACKAGE
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will inform U.S. President George Bush today that Turkey is ready to sit with Armenia at the table to hold talks on bilateral relations. As a condition for the beginning of talks, Erdogan wants Armenia to participate in a commission to be comprised of historians to conduct research on so-called Armenian genocide.

RESPONSE TO ERDOGAN
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer responded to statements of PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan who said, "there is no threat like fundamentalism. Such remarks cause regression in Turkey." Sezer said, "those who cannot see the fundamentalism threat should well-analyse the extent the social and individual life has reached." Sezer noted that there is still a fundamentalist threat, and the anti-secular efforts are causing tension in the country.
SECRET AGREEMENT SUSPICION
After PUK`s representative in Ankara said that "Turkish authorities have asked Talabani to meet with PKK", Turkish PM Erdogan said that "military operations are not staged for no reason" when commenting on the cease-fire declared by the terrorist organization PKK. The remarks of Erdogan have caused concerns that the government has reached a secret compromise with the terrorist organization.

ONE MORE "FUNDAMENTALISM" WARNING TO AKP COMES FROM SEZER
The new legislative year has begun at a ceremony in the parliament yesterday. Speaking in the ceremony, President Sezer responded to PM Erdogan, who said the previous day that "there is no fundamentalism. But there are circles who want to take advantage of fundamentalist discussions." Sezer emphasized that the concept of Turkish nation covers everybody whatever their ethnic origin is, and asked that TSK`s (Turkish Armed Forces) esteem should be preserved.
ERDOGAN`S AGENDA IS PKK
PM Erdogan said that the main topic he will discuss in the USA is the terrorist organization PKK. "Our meeting with Mr. Bush is important. The United States is our strategic ally and our common view is to eradicate terrorism," he added.

TERRORISM THREATENS PEACE
Turkish PM Erdogan said that everybody, particularly the USA and the UN, should get involved in the fight against terrorism, and warned that global terrorism is threatening peace. Erdogan stated that Turkey attaches great importance to further improvement of its relations with its 50-year ally, the United States.
STROKE ON CANCER FROM TURKISH DOCTOR
Discovery of a Turkish professor healed five cancer patients. 41-year-old Turkish doctor Prof. Dr. Sirac Dilber is working at the Swedish Karolinska Institute. Dilber achieved to increase "the murderer cells" named "Natural Killer" that kill cancer cells. These cells were implanted in five cancer patients who could not be cured, and these cells eradicated tumors at a great extent.

ERDOGAN: "SECULARISM IS UNDER PROTECTION, THERE IS NO THREAT OF FUNDAMENTALISM"
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan reacted to comments made by Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer on Sunday that there is a threat of fundamentalism in Turkey. "Secularism in Turkey is under protection and there is no threat of fundamentalism," said Erdogan. "Our administration is doing all it can to prevent a threat from fundamentalists," noted Erdogan.
TOO MANY COMPLAIN OF GOVERNMENT SERVICES BUT ONLY A FEW FIGHT FOR RIGHTS
In an effort to harmonize citizenship freedoms with EU norms, Turkey established human rights boards in 81 provinces and 850 towns six years ago. However, Turks in general have not applied to these boards to defend their rights. In Istanbul, only 51 individuals filed complaints with the human rights board while in Diyarbakir only 21 citizens filed complaints with the local human rights board.

Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan indicated that U.S. President George Bush and he will talk today to end the existence of terrorist PKK organization. According to sources, Erdogan and Bush will talk on PKK, Kirkuk, Lebanon and commercial relations on Monday.
