BERLIN - Thirty skeletons dug up from a mass grave in western Germany are probably victims of the Nazis' euthanasia programme, authorities said on Friday.
Ten more skeletons were discovered at the site in Menden on Friday, close to where Hitler's personal physician Karl Brandt built a hospital in 1943.
Many of the 30 skeletons are children.
Brandt was in charge of the Nazis' euthanasia programme, in which at least 70,000 people were killed between late 1939 and mid-1941.
Most of the victims were gassed or given lethal injections.
Prosecutors said DNA tests would be carried out on the skeletons with a view to opening an investigation.
Digging had begun because of witness accounts and rumours that bodies had been dumped there during World War II.
