ZONGULDAK - TRNC President Rauf Denktas said on Wednesday that the elections would be held between those who would give Cyprus to Greek Cypriots with Annan plan and those who wouldn't accept that.
Denktas who came to northern Zonguldak province upon the invitation of Zonguldak Karaelmas University Foundation, responded to questions of journalists during his visit to Zonguldak Governor Yavuz Erkmen.
Noting that Cyprus issue was the national cause of the Turkish nation, Denktas said that it was also still on the agenda of the world.
Denktas stated that nothing could be reached if the other side continued to claim that it was the legitimate government of Cyprus, adding that ''I hope the friendship of Turkey and Greece has the power to make Greek Cypriots accept these facts. I explain my ideas in order to prevent Cyprus from being the bridge of Greek and Greek Cypriots.''
Denktas stated that he was not worried for the elections in December, adding that he trusted the Turkish Cypriot people. Denktas said that EU and the U.S. fully supported the Greek Cypriot society and Greek Cypriot leadership, adding ''the Greek Cypriot leader says that U.S. is their natural ally.''
