BEIJING - Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu, who is currently in China, met on Wednesday with Chinese Premier Jiabao Wen and Public Security Minister Yongkang Zhou.
Aksu and an accompanying delegation visited Metropolitan Police Command Center and Special Armed Policemen Command. Turkish delegation was given a briefing in the command center.
Aksu and the accompanying delegation met with Public Security Ministry delegation chaired by Zhou. After the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two sides.
Aksu told A.A correspondent that the legal basis of the memorandum of understanding was the agreement on security cooperation in cross-border crimes which was signed between Turkey and China in 2000.
According to the memorandum of understanding, mutual cooperation in training would be made between security units of the two countries, experience on training will be exchanged and cooperation will be developed.
Aksu and the accompanying delegation were later received by Wen. Both sides expressed their pleasure on development of relations between the two countries in the meeting.
Interior Minister Aksu will visit seismology office in Beijing on Thursday and receive information about quake, fight against natural disasters and rescue efforts.
Aksu said that Turkey and China had similar peculiarities regarding quake risk and added that cooperation possibilities would be searched on that issue.
