LOS ANGELES - Three US Marines are to face court martial for allegedly murdering an Iraqi civilian north of Baghdad earlier this year, the military said in a statement Monday.
Corporal Marshall Magincalda, private first-class John Jokda and lance-corporal Jerry Shumate are accused of killing Hashim Ibrahim Awad on April 26 in Hamdania, the statement said.
The statement released by the US Marines at their Camp Pendleton base south of Los Angeles said the three soldiers would face court martial at a later date.
Charges of assault against a fourth Marine, lance-corporal Henry Lever, relating to a separate assault on April 10 were dismissed.
