LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas said on Tuesday that the United States should stop its intervention in TRNC elections.
Releasing a statement, Denktas said that the United States should stop its intervention in TRNC elections and added that unfortunately propaganda such as 'Turkey intervenes in elections' were made to cover foreign interventions. He said that Turkey was exerting efforts for holding elections in a transparent and democratic milieu and it had no other intervention.
Touching on the issue of American officials' wish to send observers to elections in TRNC, Denktas said that if they wanted to send observers, they could send because TRNC did not have any reservations.
Denktas said that they were not at the point of discussing Annan Plan or not. He added that they wanted any solution which included in three main points and those were sovereignty of Turkish Cypriots, bi-zonality and continuation of Turkey's active guarantee.
Denktas said that Annan Plan was impossible to be discussed with its current shape and added that if United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan lifted restrictions regarding the plan, it could be negotiated. He said that the content of plan was important, not its name.
