Turkey - World Bank: It Is Difficult To Carry Out Arip With Its Current Status

ANKARA - It is difficult to carry out the Agriculture Reform Implementation Project (ARIP) which is carried out by the support of World Bank with its current status, sources said on Tuesday and noted that the project was wanted to be changed.
Sources told the A.A correspondent that Agriculture Ministry Treasury Undersecretariat, State Planning Organization (DPT) and World Bank officials would hold a meeting on Tuesday and stated that the issue was expected to be discussed again in the meeting.
Transfer investment and alternative products are included in the project worth of 600 million U.S. dollars.
Economy administration said that no progress was recorded in the project for two years and stated that it was difficult to carry out the project with its current status. Economy administration stressed that it should be changed.
Sources said that total amount of the project would not be changed, but there could be some shifts onto sub-projects and stated that the project was wanted to focus on farmer register system.
There are many consultation services in the project. Negotiations which aim to decrease the number of those services to minimum continue with World Bank.
