STRASBOURG - Parliamentary Human Rights Investigation Commission Chairman Mehmet Elkatmis met on Monday with Council of Europe Secretary General Walter Schwimmer in Strasbourg.
Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Diyarbakir deputy Cavit Torun, Kirklareli deputy Ahmet Gokhan Saricam and Manisa deputy Hakan Tasci also attended the meeting.
Relations between Turkey and Council of Europe were taken up in the meeting.
Human rights and reforms on democracy in Turkey were also brought onto agenda. Elkatmis said that the government would continue its determined manner on the issue.
Schwimmer said that they were pleased with the reforms in Turkey, but putting them into practice was also important.
Noting that they were expecting the determination on adopting the laws to continue also in putting them into practice, Schwimmer said that they gave full support to Turkey's process on integration with Europe.
Elkatmis said that the parliament, like government, would follow the practice process of reforms.
Elkatmis and accompanying delegation will depart from Strasbourg on Thursday following their meeting with the officials of European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
