SULAIMANIYAH - Iraq's northern Kurdistan administration on Thursday executed 10 "terrorists" sentenced to death for taking part in beheadings and bombings, a security official said.
"According to a judicial decision, 10 terrorists of the group led by Sheikh Zhana Abdel Karim Barzanzi were executed today in Arbil," the official said on condition of anonymity.
Barzanzi, a Kurd, was one of the 10 who were convicted in March of leading a cell linked to the militant Islamist group Ansar al-Sunna.
Barzanzi, 36, was a graduate in mechanical engineering.
"The court had passed this sentence in March this year. Their execution was carried out today in Arbil," the official added.
He said during their interrogation the group had admitted to beheading people and carrying out bomb attacks in Arbil and Dohuk.
