ISTANBUL - The 19th Meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Trade Cooperation (COMCEC) started in Istanbul on Monday with the participation of high ranking experts from member countries.
State Planning Institute (DPT) Undersecretary Ahmet Tiktik chairs the meeting.
Issues that are on the agenda are expected to be discussed at high ranking experts meetings on Monday and Tuesday, and preparatory studies of draft resolutions will be completed to be submitted to ministers session.
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer will head the opening session of COMCEC that would start on October 22.
Following the opening session, Sezer will receive chairmen and directors of delegations and international institutions which participate in the meeting.
State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener will chair the ministers session scheduled to take place in the afternoon.
COMCEC meeting will end on October 23 with a closing session.
Evaluation of developments in world economy, developments in implementation of economic cooperation action plan, improvement of cooperation between OIC member countries, results of 10th meeting of private sectors of Islam countries, improvement of cooperation among OIC member countries, and exchange of views on use of electronic trade and information technologies are on the agenda of 19th COMCEC meeting.
A representative from Iraq is expected to attend the COMCEC meeting.
