TURKISH ECONOMY RANKED THE 19TH IN BIGGEST ECONOMIES OF WORLD
Turkey was ranked the 19th among countries which have the biggest economies of the world according to the 2002 figures of the World Bank. Turkey was ranked the 19th with its 426 billion U.S. dollars of national income after South Africa. Turkey had been ranked 20th among countries according the 2001 figures of the World Bank.

UNITED STATES RENTS 300 TRUCKS FROM TURKEY FOR TRANSPORT OF FOODSTUFF FOR SOLDIERS IN IRAQ
The United States rented 300 trucks equipped with cooler from Turkey for transportation of foodstuff for soldiers in Iraq.
Mehmet Hazirlar, the deputy chairman of Iskenderun Branch of the International Transporters Association, told reporters that the United States committed to pay 4.000 U.S. dollars per month for every truck within the terms of three-year contract.
Hazirlar said that 100 trucks were sent to Kuwait to transport goods brought by the United States to Persian Gulf to places where soldiers were deployed in the south of Iraq.

DIRECTOR OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS BARDAKOGLU SAYS ALL MODELS SHOULD BE REVIEWED ACCORDING TO TODAY'S CIRCUMSTANCES
Ali Bardakoglu, the Director of Religious Affairs Department, will inform society about modern Muslim type with booklets. Turkish people will have the booklets which were prepared for children, youths and intellectual people. Bardakoglu said that all models should be reviewed according to today's circumstances and stated that booklets would explain modern Muslim type. Basic principles of Islam will be explained in the booklets.

''MOST DIFFICULT PART OF PROGRAM FINISHED''
Dogus Holding executive board chairman Ferit Sahenk is hopeful about Turkish economy. Sahenk said that no matter how we criticized there was an institution called the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and stated that Turkey invited the IMF. Stating that a new platform would be set up within two or three years, Sahenk said that if decisions which were taken were put into practice, foreign investors would come to Turkey. Sahenk said that Turkey has already overcome the most difficult part of the program.

100,000 MARATHONERS IN ISTANBUL
A total of 500 marathoners from 40 countries competed in the 25th Intercontinental Eurasia Marathon in Istanbul on Sunday. Nearly 100,000 people including children, youths and elders from Istanbul competed in the marathon. Belay Velasha of Ethiopia was ranked the first the Eurasia marathon.

INTEL'S CEO BARRETT TO COME TO TURKEY
Craig Barrett, the chief executive officer of the Intel which is the leading processor producer of the world, will come to Turkey on October 28 and meet with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Erdogan and Barrett will discuss Turkey's informatics policies.

WINDS OF FRIENDSHIP
Bulgarian President Georgi Pirvanov proposed Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece and Romania to convene at a four-way summit for stability in Southeastern Europe.
Stating that he hoped Bulgaria to be a full member of the European Union (EU) in 2007, Pirvanov said Bulgaria's membership would be a new encouragement for Turkey's Europe perspective. He said 6th enlargement of the EU should cover all the Southeastern Europe countries including Turkey.

TALABANI DUE IN TURKEY
Iraqi Patriotic Union for Kurdistan (IPUK) leader Jalal Talabani will come to Turkey on November 19.
Turkey's determination on Iraq's territorial integrity and preservation of Iraq's political unity are expected to be conveyed to Talabani during the visit.

PARLIAMENT SPEAKER ARINC SAYS CREATING TENSION IS WRONG
Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc said that he would attend the reception which would be held on the occasion of October 29 Republic Day. President Ahmet Necdet Sezer invited Republican People's Party (CHP) deputies with their spouses, but he invited Justice and Development Party (AK Party) deputies without their spouses to the October 29 reception. Some AK Party deputies decided to boycott the reception. Parliament Speaker Arinc said that he would attend the reception. Arinc said, ''Turkey should overcome those tensions. I know how to leave aside personal thought, feelings and caprices. It is impossible for me not to attend the reception of the President.''

TEMPERATURES INCREASING
Meteorology officials said that temperatures would increase 6-8 degrees Celsius across the country as of Tuesday. There will be sunny weather during this week in Turkey.

CULTURE MINISTERS IN CROATIA
Culture Minister Erkan Mumcu will meet with culture ministers of Europe in Croatia.
Mumcu will participate in ''the Second Colloquium of European Ministers responsible for cultural affairs'' which will be held in Opatija city of Croatia.
A statement released by the Culture and Tourism Ministry said on Saturday that Mumcu would leave Turkey for Croatia on October 20.
Mumcu will chair the fourth working session on ''declaration of intercultural dialogue and prevention of conflicts'' which will be held under the colloquium on October 22.
Turkey will host the 3rd culture ministers meeting which is the last stage of the project in Istanbul in fall of 2004.

WARM WEATHER TO COME
Cold and rainy weather, which has been influential throughout the country, will start to lose affect starting as of Tuesday.
Temperatures will increase 6-8 degrees Celsius and will be above seasonal averages.
General Directorate of Meteorology said northern, internal and western regional will be rainy today, but that temperatures will start to rise on Tuesday.

3,000 AGENTS IN SOUTHEASTERN ANATOLIA, 13 OF THEM DEPORTED
General Staff, National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and Security Directorate prepared a report which covers foreign agents in Southeastern Anatolia region and what those agents do.
According to the report which is expected to be debated in the meeting of National Security Council (NSC) at the end of October, 13 agents who worked in the region on behalf of intelligence services of some countries were deported. The report said that 3,000 agents from about 40 countries including the United States, Russia, Britain, Germany, Greece, Israel, Egypt, Belgium, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, Iran and Armenia are working in East and Southeastern Anatolia regions.
