Aydin: Inclusion Of Expression Of Christian Roots In European Constitution Spoils Interreligious Dialogue

MALLORCA - State Minister Mehmet Aydin said on Saturday that Turkey was against inclusion of reference to Europe's Christian roots in the European Constitution being drafted and stated that this expression spoiled interreligious dialogue.
Aydin attended the Formentor Forum which was held in Mallorca island of Spain.
Speaking to reporters, Aydin said that he told his foreign colleagues in EU intergovernmental meeting in Brussels that Turkey was against inclusion of reference to Europe's Christian roots in European Constitution. Aydin said that if they talked about improvement of interreligious dialogue, this expression could not be included in the constitution and stated that they defended clearly that Turkey did not find accurate the inclusion of that expression in European Constitution. Aydin added that Europe did not know Islam.
