Spanish Prime Minister: Spain Is A Very Good Friend Of Turkey

MALLORCA - Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, who made a speech in Formentor Forum in Mallorca, said on Friday that Spain was a very good friend of Turkey and they surely supported Turkey's accession to the European Union (EU).
Touching on Turkey's importance for surrounding countries and reforms it fulfilled during accession process to EU, Aznar said that reforms which Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan fulfilled in Turkey were very important and impressing.
Aznar said that they hoped a Turkey which met EU membership criteria would join EU as soon as possible.
Aznar also touched on Iraq issue and said that the most important thing in Iraq now was to restore stability and then activities would be made for reconstruction and democratization.
