State Minister Aksit: Government Does Its Best In E.U. Process

ANKARA - State Minister Guldal Aksit said on Friday that the government did its best in its studies regarding the EU process.
EU Commission's Representative to Turkey Hansjorg Kretschmer visited the same day State Minister Aksit.
Speaking in the meeting, Kretschmer said that the Ministry was part of the reform-centric government and that it worked with resolution to form the legal order in order to make Turkey become a member of the EU.
Noting that an important decision would be taken in December 2004, Kretschmer said that there was time for that decision to be taken. Kretschmer stressed that Turkish government officials had to be in close contact with the EU Commission during that period, adding that the assessment to be made by EU Commission as of the end of the year would constitute a basis for the decision to be taken by the EU Council about Turkey.
Hansjorg Kretschmer stressed that the evaluations had to be objective and integrated.
State Minister Aksit said in his part that the government was aware of the importance of education of girls, children and women, adding that the government was carrying out the necessary studies.
