ANKARA - The 19th meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (COMCEC) will be held in Istanbul between 20-23 October, 2003.
State Planning Organization (SPO) said on Friday that COMCEC which continues its studies under the leadership of Turkey since 1984, tries to improve and coordinate multinational economic and commercial cooperation among member states.
Totally 57 members of OIC are also members of COMCEC. Besides it has four observer members. SPO coordinates the activities of COMCEC in Turkey.
Turkey will probably be represented by a delegation to be headed by State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener during the COMCEC meeting.
Issues of developments in world economy, developments about implementation of the Economic Cooperation Action Plan, increasing trade and relations with World Trade Organization are on the agenda of COMCEC meeting. President Ahmet Necdet Sezer is expected to chair the opening session of the meetings on October 22, 2003.
