Edelman In Foreign Ministry

ANKARA - U.S. Ambassador in Ankara Eric Edelman visited on Thursday foreign ministry.
Edelman, speaking after the meeting, said he paid a visit of courtesy to Deputy Undersecretary Ali Tuygan and that they had the opportunity to take up many issues including the terrorist organization PKK/KADEK.
Speaking about the negotiation process expected to start between Turkey and the United States following the decision on dispatch of Turkish soldiers, Edelman said both countries should be very careful in this sensitive period.
Pointing out that close cooperation between Turkey and the United States was in favor of the two countries, Edelman said this cooperation was shown in attack on Turkish Embassy in Baghdad, and that this cooperation prevented loss of lives.
Edelman said the process was on the normal course, stressing that military and political talks on the process would continue in Ankara, Washington and Baghdad.
Replying to a question, Edelman said there were some concerns in Iraqi Governing Council on entrance of Turkish soldiers to the region.
Referring to a statement made by Council Chairman Iyad Allawi, Edelman said a decision was not taken saying that they did not want foreign military forces in Iraq.
