WASHINGTON D.C. - The U.S. State Department has welcomed the Turkish parliament's decision to contribute troops to the expanded United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
Speaking at the daily press briefing, Sean McCormack, spokesman for the U.S. State Department said on Wednesday, "we welcome Turkey's offer. We think it is important that countries around the world step up and meet an important need so that we do. We are able to make progress in that small corner of the world, so that we do not end up back where we were at the beginning of these hostilities."
