ANKARA - "I believe Turkey's trade volume with Syria will reach one billion USD," Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said in a meeting with Syrian Construction & Housing Minister Hamud al-Husayn in Ankara on Wednesday.
Tuzmen added that the trade volume between Turkey and Syria was 850 million USD in 2005.
Noting that border gates should work more effectively (to boost trade volume), Tuzmen said that officials from Turkish Foreign Trade Undersecretariat as well as Customs Undersecretariat left for Syria last week to discuss issues about border gates.
On the other hand, Syrian Minister al-Husayn said that they are exerting efforts to increase trade volume, adding that they are working on required arrangements for Turkish investors to work better in Syria.
