-35 PROTESTORS DETAINED

ANKARA - Security forces have intervened in a group of demonstrators who gathered in Ankara to protest the parliamentary decision on the deployment of Turkish troops in Lebanon, and detained 35 of them.
A group of people who called themselves as members of the "Rights & Freedoms Front" gathered in Cebeci neighborhood of the Turkish capital city.
They chanted slogans against the government, the United States and Israel, and opened banners reading, "sending soldiers to Lebanon is nothing but treachery" and "Annan go away".
They blocked the traffic on the main avenue, and threw stones and clubs to security forces. Security forces intervened by using teargas.
Meanwhile, some protestors threw stones on the ruling Justice & Development Party (AKP) headquarters, and smashed the windows.
Security forces took into custody 35 protestors.
Tight security measures have been in place in and around the parliament, the prime minister's office and ministry buildings.
