Kyrgyz President Bakiyev Visits Türkiye, Pledges Closer Ties

Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer hosted a state dinner in Ankara for Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev during the latter's official visit to Türkiye.

At the banquet, Sezer noted that relations between the two countries had grown steadily since Kyrgyzstan gained independence in 1991. He said a joint statement signed earlier that day reflected both leaders' commitment to deepening cooperation across all sectors, and called for concrete steps to expand trade and mutual investment.

Bakiyev described Türkiye as one of Kyrgyzstan's most significant partners and said his country placed high value on strengthening the bilateral relationship.

Before the dinner, Bakiyev also met separately with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
