LEFKOSA - President Mehmet Ali Talat of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) met Chaudhry Amir Hussain, the Speaker of National Assembly of Pakistan, and Minister of Education Javed Ashraf today.
Talat, who is paying a visit to Pakistan upon invitation of Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, briefed Hussain on recent developments in his country.
According to Talat, Pakistan`s support to Turkish Cypriots is encouraging. He urged them to exert more efforts for peace and for the reunification of Cyprus.
Talat and Hussain discussed cooperation projects, establishment of a joint parliamentary group, and mutual visits to be paid by Turkish Cypriot and Pakistani executives.
On the other hand, Talat and Ashraf debated educational cooperation.
Talat is expected to meet Pakistani PM Shaukat Aziz later in the day.
